Non-Surgical Ways to Rejuvenate Your Face

02/24/2023

As you get older, your skin ages, resulting in wrinkles and sagging. Undoubtedly, you would want to appear younger with glowing skin. There are numerous surgical and non-surgical techniques that Dr. Rau can use to rejuvenate your appearance. If you don’t wish to have surgery, these are some of our favorite treatments for non-surgical rejuvenation.

Dermal Fillers

One of the first signs of aging includes a reduced facial volume that creates a hollow appearance and deep wrinkles around your cheeks, eyes, and jawline. Dermal fillers can be injected under the skin’s surface to lessen static facial wrinkles and enhance the fullness of the skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane plump and hydrate the skin while Sculptra replenishes lost collagen to restore skin elasticity and texture.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers require virtually no downtime and provide results that last up to 18 months! This, however, depends on your lifestyle and the care after injection. Dermal fillers are used to build definition in the cheekbones and jawline, augment the lips, fill in under-eye hollows, and improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, lip lines, and forehead lines.

Botox and Dysport

This is the ideal procedure if you have dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle contractions, rather than static wrinkles caused by skin aging. The contractions and repeated facial movements of smiling, laughing, and frowning result in wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and around the nose. Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators that use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily block nerve signals to the treated facial muscles. This can prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles.

Benefits of Neuromodulators

Botox and Dysport injections are quick, minimally painful, and require virtually no downtime. Smooth crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, vertical forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and bunny lines around the nose.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy that creates tiny wounds on the skin’s surface to trigger the body’s natural healing response and new collagen growth. Collagen is a protein naturally found in the skin and it is responsible for the skin’s firm, elastic texture. As we age, collagen production decreases which leads to loose skin and other signs of aging. Microneedling targets this skin laxity as well as other surface imperfections by encouraging collagen growth and cell turnover of new, healthy skin to replace the dead or damaged skin’s surface.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling can treat a variety of skin concerns like acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, rough skin texture, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, and mild skin laxity. Target signs of aging and many other conditions for complete facial rejuvenation.
