Buttock augmentation can increase the volume and roundness of your buttocks if you feel you have a flat backside. At Amavi Aesthetic Surgery, butt augmentation is performed with a fat graft or fat transfer, also referred to as a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). First, liposuction is used to harvest fat from other areas of the body such as the abdomen or love handles on the hips. These harvested fat cells are purified and then transferred to the buttocks through several injections. These injections will be placed in various places around the buttocks to create a smooth, natural-looking contour.
A buttock augmentation or BBL can be a great option for someone looking to enhance their buttocks but not everyone is an ideal candidate for the procedure. People with low amounts of body fat, multiple prior liposuction procedures (as scarred fat does not take as well) and those unable to commit to sitting restrictions for 3 weeks would not be considered ideal candidates.
Before any plastic surgery procedure, patients should be in good health and avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs since this can increase the risk of bleeding.
After your surgery, your incisions will be bandaged and drainage tubes may be placed to prevent fluid buildup in the areas where liposuction was performed. Most patients can return to work after 2-4 weeks, but you should avoid strenuous activity and limit your movements for about 4 weeks. During the first six weeks after a BBL, do not sit or sleep directly on your buttocks.
Final results are typically seen in about 6 months as the transferred fat settles. Although natural aging may affect your results over time, the improvements you see after a BBL last for many years!
