The Morpheus8 device uses a handpiece equipped with multiple tiny needles that penetrate the deep layers of skin tissue and subcutaneous fat. These microneedles also deliver fractional bipolar radiofrequency energy to remodel the tissues and melt fat. Heat is delivered to the deep tissues while the microneedling device creates tiny punctures (microchannels) on the skin’s surface. New collagen (a protein in the skin) is stimulated for added firming and tightening.
Even though the Morpheus8 device penetrates the deep tissues, most patients do not find the treatment to be painful. A topical anesthetic or numbing cream can also be applied to the skin to ease your discomfort. Treatment takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Some of the most commonly treated areas include the cheeks, neck, and under the skin but Morpheus8 can also be used on the body to treat stretch marks and other skin conditions caused by skin aging.
Morpheus8 has amazing benefits for patients bothered by fine lines and wrinkles, deep facial folds, jowls, and sagging skin on the midface. Most men and women in overall good health are candidates for Morpheus8 microneedling. This is a safe treatment for most skin types and skin tones but if you have an active skin infection or acne breakout, you may have to wait to receive treatment.
There is virtually no downtime after Morpheus8 treatments. Mild swelling and soreness may occur but patients can immediately return to work. Avoid direct sun exposure and keep your skin moisturized for the first week while the tiny puncture wounds are healing. Some immediate improvements can be seen, but results will develop gradually as the tissues remodel and collagen production tightens the skin. Patients may need 1-3 treatment sessions, depending on the severity of skin aging and the results they hope to achieve.
