Morpheus8: What is it and What does it do?

04/13/2023

Many people struggle with fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, and acne scarring. It can be difficult to live with. But with Morpheus8, you may not have to struggle with it for long. Morpheus8 can treat a variety of skin issues but what exactly is it? First, let’s look at what laser treatments are and then we’ll take an in-depth look at the Morpheus8 treatment.

What are Laser Treatments?

Laser treatments are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars, even out the color of your skin, tighten the skin, and remove benign lesions.

The laser stimulates collagen production which can help firm and tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus laser treatment is a minimally-invasive fractional laser treatment that targets the deep layers of the skin. It’s able to reach much further than other forms of laser treatment by combining microneedling and radiofrequency. It allows your surgeon to target specific areas either on the shallow or deep layers of the skin.

How Does Morpheus8 Work?

Morpheus8 works by creating small punctures in the skin via microneedling and emitting radiofrequency energy into the skin. This creates a thermal effect that triggers collagen production which tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles giving your skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.

What Does Morpheus8 Work On?

Besides fine lines and wrinkles, the Morpheus8 treatment can also target:

  • lax or mildly sagging skin
  • rough or uneven skin texture
  • crepey skin
  • large pores
  • hyperpigmentation
  • acne scarring
  • stretch marks
  • cellulite
  • sun damage

What to Expect During Morpheus8 Treatment?

If you’re looking for Morpheus8 treatment, there are a few things you can expect.

At the start of the procedure, a local anesthetic will be applied to the affected area. General anesthesia and IV sedation are not usually necessary.

Depending on the size of the area being treated and your goals,  the treatment typically takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes, but it can take up to an hour.

Before the Morpheus8 device is used, the area will be thoroughly cleaned. When it comes in contact with the skin, you may feel some pressure or discomfort from the microneedling, but you shouldn’t feel any pain.

After Morpheus8 Treatment

Following the Morpheus8 treatment, your skin will likely be red and irritated. You may see some swelling as well. Your skin should heal within a few days.

During the healing process, use a moisturizer. You can use one you already have or your surgeon may give you a specific moisturizer to use. It’s meant to prevent scabbing and to ensure your skin doesn’t dry out. You’ll also want to apply sunscreen regularly.

Recovery and Results

Generally, the treated area will take approximately 2-3 weeks to heal completely and you may see some results after a few days. You’ll want to avoid makeup for at least the first 24 hours after the treatment. Strenuous activity or exercise should also be avoided for the first 24-48 hours.

Full results may appear after a few weeks, but you might need further treatment sessions to achieve the results you’re looking for.
